B C writes to us asking why applications for the offices of suiveyor and to the Temuk* Road Board ate -not advertised for. We can only reply that we do not know. The Board resolved, at a special meeting held on November 21st, to invite applications for the office of surveyor, and, contingent upon tho present clerk's resignation being received, for the office of clerk and inspector of nuisances also. The clerk's resignation was handed m 'at the last meeting of the Board
