CRICKET.

TEMUKA V. GERALDINE. These two clubs played a match on Saturday afternoon. It was not exactly a trial of strength, for there was no doubt ns to which club is the strongest. The day was not a pleasant one for cricket, a very cold wind b'owing from the east. The Geraldine captain won the toss, and sent bis opponents to the wickets. Rands and Macintosh, the first to go in, played very steadily, and appeared to have taken a lease of the ground, though runs came very slowly, about one per over to Moore and M'Farlane's bowling. Some shouting outside the field took Rand's attention off the ball, and his bails fell. Carlyon rhen went in and played a very good innings for 15, while most of the others of h's side went in and out again for about the same score. He was at last dismissed by Moore making a splendid catch at point. A.t the beginning of the inning's several "lives" were given, but later these were not so noticeable, Moore and Dr Pish went in first for Geraldine, and the farmer began to give tho long fields something to warm them. He very soon y.m up '4O, when hq was oaught oft an ugly breast-high ball of Rogers'. Dr Fish, after being badly let off by Hardcastle at cover point, was taken by the same field soon £\fter, R. Fish, jun., played a very good innings, though he did not score much, while Milton's 19 were not at all deserved by his stylo of play.
