A special meeting of this Boari was lieM on Thursday. 21st inst. Present— Messrs Talbot (Chairman) Eusor, Barker and Idavhnrst.

Tip'contractor for supply of timber is to be telegraphed to, informing him that a considerable proportion of the timber Trendy sent is being rejected as not being equal to specification. A letter wis read from MrJ. W. White, Ihe Board’s solicitor, stating that he had been s rwd with a writ at the suit of Mr Franks, claiming £IOOO damages, and also Llo3l sp'ci d damages, for pol ntiou of certain springs of water used by him for brewing.
It was reso’ved to ca 1 for tenders fur c-mipiling a valuation roll in accord an e with the It ting Act. A condition of the coctr ct is to l>e th it the vahiator inspect every separate property, and carry with him a book in which die occupier or person in charge o’ tiie property shall write his signature in witness of the fact that die valuator has visited the property. If no person reside on the [dace, that fact is to be noted in the book in lien of the signature. It is to be made an instruction to the valuator to assess all unoccupied lauds in tow n or i ountry at their selling value.
Mr Macpherso i baaing tendered his resignation of the post c»f Surveyor to the Board, desiring to terminate his present engagement on the first Tuesday in January, 1879, it was resolved that the resignation he accepted, and that applications for the post be invited, salary to be L3OO. per annum, without house. Also, that on receipt of the Clerk’s resignation, applications for the post of Clerk and Inspector of Nuisances be invited, salary to be Ll5O, and free house. The Board then adjourned.
