BUSH FIRES.
[By Telegraph.] The following telegrams relative to the bush fires of yesterday were received about 8 p.m. We regret that more detailed information about the Waimatu fire was not obtainable. Full accounts will be anxiously,looked for we are sure : Geraldine, Nov. 15. A fire broke out at the Raukapuka Bush between 12 and 1 o'clock to-day, on Mr Whittaker’s section. It is supposed to have originated from some old stumps taken -off a road being form d. The fire covered about fifty acres up to about six o’clock, and is still making headway through W. K. Macclonn id’s maiden hush. The Government bush is all clear so far. Waimate, Nov 15, 7.30 p.m. Bush sti 1 burning. Immense damage done. Town not in danger.
