(Special to the Press Agency.) G.BAHAMSTOWN, Nov. 4. _._ An inquest was held to-day on Wn&: body of Goldsmith, Mining who shot himself on Saturday, when It verdict of temporary insanity was returned. Wellington, Nov. 4. His Excellency the Governor left for Lyttelton in. the Hinemoa last night. The Hon Mr Sheehan is to leave for the South to day, but will return in a few days, when he will proceed to Wanganui and other places on the West Coast. It is understood that the Premier will leave for Auckland about Wednesday. Lyttelton, Nov. 4. Tiie Hinemoa with his Excellency the Governor and suite arrived alongside the wharf at 2.40 p.m. The Christchureh Artillery fired a vice-regal salute on his Excellency's landing. Chiustohujsch, Nov 4. At a meeting of the Charitable Aid and Hospital Board to-dey, Dr Chilters, of Wellington, was appointed house surgeon at L2SU a year. His Excellency the Governor arrived at 3 o'clock to-day, and was escorted to the Club by a detachment of the Christchureh cavalry. Dunedin, Nov 4. Mr Deans forwarded by the Hawea for the North yesterday between 7000 and 8000 perch cva, obtained from the Dunediu reserve. They are intended for the Napier Socioty. The collection in aid of the building fund of the Knox Church yesterday amounted to LIOO. Since the beginning of the year about L 2500 has been subscribed for the same purpose. ■ - ■ The education returns for the Otago district during the quarter ending 30th September-, show the number of teachers to be 312, of whom 186 were males. The total humber of scholars on the roll at the end of the quarter was 15,536, showing an iucrease for the quarter of 1005.
