TEMUKA RACES.
A full meeting of the race committee was held last night at the Crown Hotel, Mr B. Thompson in the Chair. After approving the minutes of the lust meeting. Mr A. Wadsworth’s protest against Mr Storey’s horse Custout in the Maiden Plate was considered. Tim horse had been entered a five years old, A veterinary surgeon had been specially engaged to decide the question of the age of the horse, and his opinion was given in writing as follows : “ I have this day examined, at the request of the Temuka Race Committee, a roan horse, Castout, and am of opinion that he is six years old. “Samuel Durham “ M R.O.Y.S. “Temuka, Oct. 15th, 1878” It was resolved that Mr Wadsworth’s protest be accepted, and considered good and sufficient to disqualify Castout, and that the stakes be paid over to Mr Wadsworth. Mr Oldfield had put in a similar protest against Castout, about the Publicans’ Purse Race. The same decisiou was arrived at in this, as in the other case.
