CORRESPONDENCE.

[We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents.] —o—(to the editor of the temuka deader.) Sir —Some two or three years ago I insured my household belongings, at a country agency farther north than this, with the South British Insurance Company of New Zealand, and got a receipt which stated “ a policy expressive of particulars will be issued.” As I could not get the

prdn used' policy, although I frequently applied for -it, I, upon advice, re-insured in iinotlrer ofhcejtlie head-quarters of which, although in Victoria, at. once plac; d in my hands, by its Christchurch agent, the requisite document. Coining to this locality I had to insure again, and somewhat necessarily with the local agent for the South British, my old friends. I did So on the 7th January last, and am at this date without the stereotyped promised policy. May I now ask you, to whom everything is supposed to be known (and do not, please, put me aside by saying you decline to give legal advice), whether a temporary acknowledgement of a sum of money accompanied merely with a promise to do a certain thing is quite a protection to anyone in my circumstances. —I am, &c., Delta. Waihi Bush, Sept. 6.
