GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Board was held on Tuesday, the 6th iust. Present—Messrs Slack, Hay, and Flatman. In the absence of the Chairman Mr Slack, on the morion of Mr Hay, was voted to the chair pro. tern. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr Postleth waite apologising for his non-attendance, having to go to Wellington on business connected with rhe County.. Also a letter was read from Mr Deßenzie, satting that he was under the doctor’s hands.

Proposed by Mr James Hay, seconded by Mr Hajman,'and carried, “That the Clerk give notice, in accordance with the Rating Act, 1876’, that it is the intention of the Eoax’d, at its next ixxeeting, to strike a rate of one shilling in the pound on all rateable property in the distinct for the year 187$, tp be payable in one snip on the Ist day of November, 1878, and that the rate Book is open fox inspection at the Road Board Office. Geraldine, until the 3rd day of September, 1878.” Proposed by Mr Slack, seconded by Mr Hay, and carried, “ That the Clerk give notice to the members of the Board of its intention, at the next meeting, to rescind the resolution re the stinking of a shilling rate, as the same is informal, and not in accordance with the Rating Act, 1876.” ’’

Accounts to the amount of L 1073 14s 6d were passed for payment; The meeting then adjourned.
