N.P. And Waitara Have Been Granted More State Houses
Taranaki has 370 units between Patea and Waitara Seven more State houses are to be built at New Plymouth and five more at Waitara, and tenders are being called for their construction. Plans and specifications had not reached the State Advances Corporation office at New Plymouth yesterday, so it is not possible to say where the new houses will be built. It is known, however, that several blocks of land have been under consideration by the Housing Department, including areas at Fitzroy and Westown. It is believed the five new units for Waitara will occupy sections in Parris Street adjoining the State houses already built. There are now 370 State house units in occupati'on between Patea and Waitara. New Plymouth has 158 occupied at Brooklands, 12 occupied and seven under construction at Westown and three occupied at Fitzroy, a total of 180. At Waitara there are 21 occupied State houses.
