Legacy For Wounded. Under the will of the late Mrs. Emily Sarah Smith, a former resident of Gisborne, the balance of her estate, after •provision has been made for certain legacies, has been left for the benefit of members of the New Zealand armed forces wounded or disabled in the present war. It is expected that the value of this trust will be approximately £1500. Battledress For Army Women. Battledress is to be issued to members of the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps engaged on certain duties in the South Island. It will be a working uniform only, and with it the women will wear army boots specially made to their feet sizes. Two pairs of boots will be issued to each woman. For walking out the regular uniform of the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps will be issued. More Freezing Works Suggested. "That the sum of money held in the meat reserve fund be set aside for the purpose of acquiring one freezing works in each province, to be run on strictly co-operative lines, the works to kill all classes of meat," was a remit forwarded to the North Canterbury executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union by the Motukarara branch. The proposal was put forward by Mr. I. L. M. Coop and approved by the executive. Weekly Patriotic Marts. Patriotic marts under . the auspices of the women's patriotic committee are to be held at New Plymouth every week, with the exception of three given to the use of other organisations. The Mayoress, Mrs. E. R. C. Gilmour, said that the next mart is to be eonducted entirely by members of tbe patriotic committee, but on following days three members will chose helpers from their own organisation. The proceeds are to £0 to the patriotic furid.
