Ahititi-Tongaporutu News

The Tongaporutu hall was crowded when a welcome home was given to Lance-Corporal D. McDonald, Private K. Calvert and Private C. Southcott, who have been invalided home from overseas. This event was held in con- ' junction with a dance given in honour of Privates G. O'Donnell and N. Crudis. On behalf of settlers, Mr. R. Gibbs presented t each of the men with a gift. Music was played by Mrs. Morris. with extras by Mrs. O. C. Petersen, Mrs. C. Gray and Miss Joan Petersen. Visitors were present from Aria, Awakino, Mokau, Urenui and Uruti. A prize for a competition. in aid of soldiers' overseas parcels, was given by Mrs. G. Winters.
