Interesting Stud Items
The flrst foal to make its appearance at the Inglewood stud is a bay colt by Battle Song from Lady Burleigh. He was born on August 23. Mr. G. H. Grigg is sending his Martian mare Love in the Mist to Defaulter this sea son. The mare has an exceptionaliy One yearling fllly by Defaulter. Mother Superioi, dam of Graeco-Roman, a smart horse, is going south on • visit to Battle Song. Further recent hooktngs to thc son of Spion Kop are: Mr. E. Gates' Lady Leigh, Mr. E. Hay's Princess Doreen, Mr. G. R. Macdonald's Scold, Mr. J. Camerons Endorse, and Honesta. Bibbon, wlnner of the Newmarket Bedford Plate recently at Newmarket for Lord Rosebery, is a bay daughter of Fairway, who was brcd by lier owner. She is out of the defunct Bongrace, a daughter of Spion Kop, and Vaucluse, winner of the One Thousand Guineas. Bongrace, who won the Doncaster Cup for her breeder, the flfth R&rl, in 1926, Is a very close relative to the imported sire Battle Song, and her early death at the stud was a distinct loss, because before productng Ribbon she threw the very smart Ptolemy by Pharos.
