Customs Office Revenue At New Plymouth Declines
Customs totals at New Plymouth in August showed a decreasa of £7762, conipared with the flgures for the corresponding month of 1941. War expenses account collections increased by £4592 and excise duty on beer was higher by £250. Saies tax totals showed a decvease of £216 for the month. Totals fov the month, and fov the flrst eight months of the year, with 1941 ilgures In parontheses, are: — Customs: £6534 14s 7d (£13.297 12s ldl ; tolal for flrst eight months, £63,452 12s 8d (£94.378 5s 8d). Saies tax: £3147 17s 8d (£3363 2s 5dl ; total for eight months £24,876 16s 6d (£26.004 16s ldt. War expenses account: £8184 2s (£3591 16s 6d); total for eight months £42,489 9s 2d (£28,228 6s 2d). Excise duly on beer: £1052 8s lOd (£798 8s 9d) ; total for eight months £8825 0s 3d (£6719 16s 6d).
