N.Z. Escort Pilot Destroys Nazi Fighter

Rec. 9.10 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 29. One Focke Wulf 190 was destroyed by a New Zealand flight lieutenant who was with an anxiliary squadron forming part of the escort for Flying Fortresses whicb bombed an aircraft factory at Meaulte, says the Air Ministry news service. The New Zealander, who is a flight-comman-der, went down with his section to attack five FW 190's and after giving one short burst he saw the pilot fall out. He started to rejoin his formation when | another enemy aircraft appeared. Our ! pilots attacked it and it went down in a i spin but they were not able to see it crash.
