Cream Collection Overlapping Can Be Reduced More

Further economy in dairy industry transport. More zoning of transport in the dairy industry is forecast by Mr. H. M. Christie, zoning officer for the North Island. "There has been zoning to a reasonasble extent since early in the war," he said at New Plymouth last night, "but there is ■ still a considerable amount of overlapping in the collection of creani in some districts." Mr. Christie will to-day meet the representatives of certain dairy companies to hear objections to proposed boundary readjustments. Present zoning arrangements were reasonably satisfactory , ha said, and it was not proposed to imterfera with them unless to improve effkiency or remove anomalies. The original zoning plan for dairy factories was prepared by the Executive Commission of Agriculture, it was explained. Since then Transport Depart-* ment officers co-operating with Department of Agriculture officers had inter- , viewed dairy companies and recommended amended collection boundaries. Where no objection was raised by the companies concerned the amendments were gazetted and put into operation., It was to adjust certain differences of opinion in North Taranaki that he would interview company representatives today, Mr. Christie explained.
