Small Allocation of Tyres For Central Taranaki
For the Central Taranaki area, which extends from Kaponga to Tangarakau and includes the boroughs of Stratford and Eltham, only 20 tyres and 20 tubes have been allocated for the month. An official of the bicycle tyre and tube rationing committee said at Stratford yesterday that it was useless for members of the public to apply for tyres or tubes unless they had urgent and substantial reasons. Even applications by telegraph messengers and postal lettercarriers were refused. • Seven of the 20 tyres and tubes have been allotted to Eltham, leaving only 13 for Stratford and the country districts.
