Kaponga Presentation

A large crowd assembled in the Kaponga town hall when a social evening and dance was given in honour of Lance-Corporal G H. R. Gordge and other visiting soldiers Music was played by Mrs. Attrill's orchestra Mr. A. R. Bates, on behalf of the Kaponga patrtoj'c oommitteo, prerpnted Lanee-Cor-poral Gordge with a soldier's hold-ail. Mr C. P. Crowley, president of the Kaponga Football Club. handed Lance-Corporal Gordge a pocket wallet. Euchre prizes were won by Mesdames H. J. Watts and J. A. Dawson. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Sergeant and Mrs. Gane. Extras were played by Mrs. Nicholson, and masters of ceremonies were Messrs. W. Marr and W. G. Cran. Mr. Bates also welcomed home Privates C. Crowley. G. Hollard, O. Lennon, C. Johnson. J. Thorn. L. Lissaman, S. Wolfe (Eltham) and Feather (Okaiawa). Supper was served by a cornmittee controlled by Mesdames J. Tattersali pnd J. H. Tyack.
