New U-boat Tactics Used In Carribbean

Rec. 8.30 p.m. Washington, Aug. 27. Three ships were torpedoed and sunk, two within the space of four. minutes, on one night in the Caribbean in the first large-scale assault since June, when convoying was introduced. They included a medium-sized United States merchant vessel. It is believed that two submarines attacked the two vessels when travelling closely together. The radio operator explained that the submarines have changed their tactics and now lie in wait for passing vessels, spring up and make a quick attack and then retire.
