N.P. Old Folks' Association Holds Quarterly Meeting

More than 100 members and friends attended the quarterly meeting of the New Plymouth Old Folks* Association held in the recently enlarged rooms at New Plymouth yesterday. The president, I Mr. W. S. Currie, welcomed the Mayor, Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour, and Mr. F. L. Frost, M.P. Mr. Frost said he was pleased to be able to inform members that land had been purchased for the erection of flats which as soon as war conditions permitted would be built for the use of old people. The fine work done by the association in bringing old people together was stressed by Mr. Gilmour, who said that the efforts of the former president, Mr. A. H. Vile, in establishing such a body were to be commended. Addresses were given by Mr. Currie and the vice-president, Mr. Mulvey. Items were given by Mrs. Fredric (pianoforte solo), Mrs. Heath, Mr. Franks, Mr. J. Hunt and Mr. Chatterton (recitations), Mr. Robertson, Miss Noyer (songs), and Mr. Amold faccordion solo). At a social held last night in the Old Folks' rooms items were:-^-Oommunity singing led by Mr. L. Higginson; songs, Mr. and Mrs. J. Sutherland, Mrs. Armstrong and Mr. Robertson; pianoforte solo, Mr. Ashworth; whistling solo, Mrs. Ashworth.
