Night Collection of Cream Introduced at Waitotara
In an effort to overcome transport pro- , blems accentuated by the tyre posttton the Okoia Co-operative Dairy Co. Ltd. has arransed to save 22.000 running miles annuaily by having cream in the Waitotara district, 30 miles from a factory, collected by lori-y at night after the late afternoon - milking. • It vrill be delivered at the Waitotara station for transport by night 'rreigbt trains and the lorry will subsequontly collect cream in districts further south and run to the factory. A representative of the Transport Department conferred with company chairmen and factory managers in the Wanganui district, and as a result alterations to cream collection services were made. The aiteratlon to the Waitotara collection will be, the flrst occasion on ' which the night collection of cream has been introduced in the Wanganui district. A similar scheme is under consideration for the transport of cream from the PateaWaverlcy area by train to Hawera for . supply to the Hawera Dairy Co., also with , the object of savirig tyres and petrol.
