Manpower Officer Attends Round Table Conference
The problem of staffing South Taranaki factories was discussed at Hawera yesterday when Mr. R. B. Sutton, chairman of the Taranaki Armed Forces Appeal Board, and Mr. F. H. Muirhead, ^Taranaki district manpower officer, met representatives of the industry. Mr. W. E. Scott, president of the Taranaki farming and dairying industrial union of employers, and Mr. Muirhead were appointed to investigate the possibility of facilitating the provision of labour. The acute shortage of labour for factories prompted the South Taranaki Primary Production Council to arrange the meeting. which was attended by representatives and managers of companies over a wide area. A round table discussion took place. the proceedings being held in committee because of the nature of the conference.
