Conditions Governing Sale of Fencing Wire

A control order has oeen gazeueu whereby farmers or other persons who require supplies of plain fencing wire .after to-day must comply with certain conditions which have been outlined to Field^ Division officers of the Department of Agriculture and to primary production councils, according to an announcement to-day by the Mimster of Agriculture, the Hon. J. G. Barclay. Retailers would be entitled to sell plain fencing wire in quantities not exceeding five hundredweight without authority, said the Minister, but for quantities in excess of this it would be necessary for ihe intending purchaseruser to make an application on the prescribed form. Applications for farming purposes would be dealt with by district councils of primary production, and for other than farming purposes by fencing materiais associations at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. The Minister added that farmers who had been holding wire for defence purposes may now put the wire to its normal use.
