Certificates Presented
First aid and home nursing certificates were presented at a social evening held by the Waitara St. John Ambulancc Association. The Mayor, Mr. J. P. Hughson, spoke, and Mrs. Hughson presented certificates to the following: — Home nursing: Mesdames O. Foreman, Jtilian, Coison, Misses D. Terrill, B. Penwarden, N. Allen, Mesdames Sutherland. ,Toli, Ferguson. Chapman, Misses I). Cunningham, M. Manning, M. Sniith, Mrs. Sumpson, Mrs. B. Foreman. Misses D. Bint, r.. Bint, E. Wilson, J. Wiison, J. Eaing, J. Uithgow. Mrs. Clark. Mrs. Henderson, Misses Badiey. C. Wright; Mrs. Wright. Misses Carmichael, A. Silby, Q. Silby, M. Smaill, M. Mossop, F.. Keltie. Special mention was made of the work of Mrs. Yiekery, who instruelcd homenursing elasses, and of Dr. R. E. Barclay, who gave Ieetures. rresentations were made to both by Mrs, Sutherland, on lichaif of those present. Opporlunity was also taken liy the Mayor lo make a prosentatlon to Mr. J. Witliers, of the brigade, who is lo onter eainp. Mr. N. Edwin played extras for daneing, and a Monte Garlo waltz was won by Miss J. Eilhgow and parlner. Miss Flcteher and Mr. G. Ayton won a spot waltz. Mr. C. Hansen was master of ceremonies, and supper was served. Preacntation to Soldiers. Presentations to eight soldiers were made al a dance organised by a Waitara eominittee in Ihe FJifton hall. The Mayor, Mr. J. P. Hughson, welcomed all men on leave. Spcakers included Mr. I'k I- Frost, M.P.. Mr. W. It. Johns, chairman of the patriotic society, and Mr. I. Priehard, president of the Returned Services' Association. The Mayoress, Mrs. J. P. Huglison, presented gifts to Sgt. C. Smart, L/Cpt. K. Bint, Ptes. H. Lowe, W. Andrews, N. McNcii, X. Sehroder, R. Peperill and B. Sotfe. Each of fv men received a parcel from the Women's Institute, presented fty Mrs. Theohold. Mr. N. Edwin and Miss H. Crow played extras. Supper was served by Ihe women's eominittee.
