Hours of Work

(To the Editor.)

sir, — in your issue oi AURUst 19 i was surprised to learn that even "Spud" did not have his "cycs" open yet. Most people, irrespcclive of calliuR, lealise fuliy the diilieulties and iong liours being endured i),v the i'armer and his family in these days of inereased production and shortage of labour, But I would suggest lo "Spud" that before expressing his fcelings in tlic colunins of the Press he make himself eonversant with tlie true position. 1 think he will flnd that by far the great majorily of his so-called 10-hour week expoiients are probably working as many hours as he, perliaps more, and are contributing their full share to New Zealaiid's war effort. — 1 am, elc.. JUST A HAIGWAY SURFACEMAN.
