Nimbler Fingers Of Women Raise Plane Production
Rec. 10.55 p.m. New York, Aug. 24. The battle of production may be won or lost by women, says the WorldTelegram. At least one aircraft manufacturer has notified Washington that the speed at which they can hire and train women will decide whether production schedules will be fulfilled. Six southern Californian companies at present employ 17,500 women. Moreover, the companies credit women with improving plant efficiency and increasing output. At the Vulte works women raised the production rate all over the plant. Fuselage work in particular moved more rapidly under women's nimbler fingers.
