Wellington, Aug. 25

Having a gas producer on his motorcar, Mr. R. M. Brasted, national secretary of the Y.M.C.A., was endeavouring to gtart it on Wellington Terrace, and, while adjusting in position a second battery, he had to bend down. He was . overcome by gas, and was found lying unconscious, half in and half out of the car. On admission to hospital Mr. Brasted was treated at once for carbon monoxide poisoning. He was unconscious for three nours, and was afterward told he had the narrowest escape it was possible for' a man to have under the circumstonces.
