Mangatoki Teacher Leaves

Parents and pupils of the Mangatoki school met in the school grounds to farewell Miss R. Jones, infant mistress for four and a half years. Miss Jones was presented with a shoulder spray by Enid Anderson. The headmaster, Mr. Hayter, referred to Miss Jones' efficient work and her service to the school. Gwennyth Whyte, girl head prefect, made a presentation of an upholstered chair on behalf of the school staff and pupils. The Rev. Mr. Walke also spoke of Miss Jones' work. The chairman of the school committee, Mr. C. J. Astbury, on behalf of parents, presented Miss Jones with a coffee set. Mrs. S. G. Morgan, on behalf of the Women's Institute. of which Miss Jones was a member, presented her with a hook. Tea was served by the committee, assisted by the children. Mrs. F. Coates is the guest ^pf her daughter, Mrs. I. Cochran, Opunake. Mr. and Mrs. W. Clarke, New Plymouth, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Astbury. Mrs. G. Carlson, Wellington, who was the guest of Mrs. C. W. Carlson, has left to spend a holiday at Stratford. Miss D. Gatenby, Levin, was recently the guest of her mother, Mrs. M. Gatenby. Mr. E. Hayter is spending the schoPl holidays at Whangarei. Mrs. E. Hayter is spending a holiday at Taumarunui. Miss M. Hunter, Marton, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. S. Cathie.
