1 Power Failure. j Electric power failed at Stratford for imore than 20 minutes at about 6.15 p.m. jon Sunday when lightning shattered an linsulator on the Taranaki Electric Power Board's power house at Tarata. The insulator was quickly replaced by the board's staff. News of Missing Soldier. Since Private George (Mick) Sarigster was reported missing 18 months ago his mother, Mrs. A. G. Sangstei", who lives Jat Beaconsfield Road, Stratford, heard i nothing of him until last week, when jshe received a letter from him saying jthat he was a prisoner of war in Stalag 8B. The letter said he was receiving plenty of food and tobacco through the Red Cross .Society." Heavy Rail Traffic. Railway passenger traffic through the Stratford station has been very heavy since the latter part of last week and at the week-end. On Thursday so many j troops joined the New Plymouth- Wel - I lington espress that two locomotives were jneeded to draw the train. Expresses on I Friday and Saturday and again yesterday had more than the usual number of cars attached, and seating accommodation on trains between Wanganui and New Plymouth has been taxed.
