Mrs. E. Culford Bell, Miss Lorraine Major and Mr. Stanley Oliver, judges for the Hawera competitions festival, are guests at the Central Hotel. Henry Davies, of the New _ Zealand Artillery, is promoted second lieutenant (temporaiw), according to# a Gazette notice. Second-Lieutenant Davies lives at Hawera and before going to the school of artillery was in Q.A.M.R. Regiment (A.F.V.).
