Unsuitable Films Attended by Children
"The censorship of films has been given further consideration and it is hoped that something will be done to discourage children from seeing unsuitable films." said the Minister of Education, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason. in a letter received by the Wanganui Education Board. The Minister added that he appreciated the interest being taken by the Wanganui board in the moral welfare of children and trusted that the publicity given to the question of unsuitable films would result in parents taking their responsibility more seriously. "I am still of the opinion that any film advertised for adults only should be forbidden to children." said the chairman, Mr. E. F. Hemingway, Patea. Producers should not make films which thev were ashamed to screen before children. It was agreed that a deputation from the Education Boards' Association should 1 wait on the Minister with a view to the legislation being amended.
