Nazis Offer To Pay For Damage Done at Dieppe
London, Aug. 23. General von Stuelpnagel, military governor of occupied France, has placed 10,000,000 francs at the disposal of the local prefect "in recognition of the discipline and remarkable cairn of the population of Dieppe at the moment of the attempted British landing." The Vichy news agency says that the money wil be used for reimbursement for damage and the relief of ciyilian victims of British bombardments. Marshal Petain and M. Laval are reported to have thanked General von Stuelpnagel.
