New Command Created For Persia and Iraq

London, Aug. 23. A new independent military command, to be known as the Persia-Iraq command, has been formed, according to an. official announcement. General Sir Henry Maitland Wilson,

formerly G.O.C. 9th Army in Syria, has been appointed to the new command. He is 60 years of age and was one of those who met Mr. Churchill during the latter's recent visit to headquarters in Egypt. He was formerly General Sir Archibald Wavell's right-hand man.
