Good And Bad Spots In U.S. Production Drive
Rec. 8.30 p.m. New York, Aug. 22. Mr. Donald Nelson, chairman of the War Production Board, reports that war production has increased 250 per cent since Pearl Harbour, and 16 per cent. since last month, and the rest of the year will tell the story. But he warned that the July output was still 7 per cerit. 'behind schedule due to the difficulties of co-ordinating materials. The specified aircraft production in July increased 11 per cent. since June, but the output of combat planes fell short of expectations and had not reached the planned schedule. The July production of medium tanks exceeds that of June by 35 per cent., and light tanks 15 per cent., while the output of anti-air-craft guns increased 64 per cent. in the eame period.
