Limited Use of Heaters Decreases Power Loading
"A marked decrease in loading on the system indicates that the request of the Government to discontinue the use of radiators during the hours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. was being observed by the board's consumers," said the engineer, Mr. J. Lythgoe, at a meeting of the South Taranaki Electric Power Board last night. The water level of the river was fairly well maintained during the month, he said, and it was not necessary to use the Diesel engines. The reduction in the total amount of units was 4.1 per cent. from that of last year. During the same period last year the board exceeded its allocation, and aetually the increase was a little less than the 8 per cent. allowed. Revenue earned during July, after allowing discounts amounting to £552, amoimted to £4477, compared with a nett return last year of £4532, said Mr. Sharp. The total nett amount for the first four months of the financial yoar was £21,929, compared with £21,123. For the financial year there was an increase of only £816, compared with an increase last year of £1205. Revqnue would have increased for the month by £200 had the rates remained the same, so that instead of a decrease of £55 there would have been an increase of £200 to £300, thus showing a benefit to the consumers through the new charges of about £300.
