Papier Mache Circle
Papier maehe medical supplies as substitutes for enamelware are being made by the Waitara papier maehe circle. The convener, Mrs. H. G. Taylor, and her assistants, who meet weekly, have made a large number of articles since the inception of the circle about three months ago. One member has finished 58 articles. All are to be forwarded for distribution to St. John Ambulance first aid posts. A dance in aid of comforts for the members of the Maori Battalion overseas was held at the Clifton hall. Mr. N. Edwin and Mr. B. Pennington played extras and a lucky spot foxtrot was won by Private H. Lowe and partner. Prize-winners at the Waitara Red Cross Society's euchre party were: — Mrs. Eriwata 1, Mrs. Hewson 2, Mrs. E. Turner consolation; Mr. Sutton 1. Mr. Zeier 2, Mr. H. Kettle consolation. Messrs. J. Zeier, A. Sutton and Mrs. Hewson gave their prizes back.
