Provincial Catalogue Supported by Jersey Club
Approval was given by the New Plymouth Jersey Cattle Club yesterday to the Stratford club proposal outlined by Mr. H. J. Kaye that a provincial catalogue of "top" bulls should be issued each year. The proposal had already been approved by the Inglewood club, Mr. Kaye said. [t was considered that the catalogue, which would be sent to breeders throughout the Dominion, would to a great extent take the place of Jersey week in inducing outside breeders and progresSive farmers to visit Taranaki during the winter. It would encourage visitors and progressive dairy farmers to purchase on the farm and it would also lead to •further business. Though final details would be decided by delegates from all the clubs, it was considered that only bulls from tested dams should be eligible for the catalogue, which should be brought out before March 31, the price of the bulls to be included. It was considered that the scheme was on broader lines than the catalogue being brought out by the herd improvement association, because that only included bulls owned by group testing members.
