Entertainment For Pupils At Hawera High School
A social evening arranged for the pupils of the Hawera Technical High School by the Parents' Association was held in the school assembly hall on Tuesday night. A concert programme was given by the pupils early in the evening, and the principal, Mr. J. Dash, welcomed the parents. Mr. Dash said the main object of the social evenings was to draw parents, children and the staff together and to show the parents the way in which the children were entertained. The programme was: One-act plav. "Something to Talk About," Misses Shirley Thomson and Judith Cox, and J. Hurrell, A. St. Johh, T. Nicholls, C. Quin and B. Marshall; school orchestra, march, "The Legionnaire," and overture in musical comedy style, "Auroa"; junior girls' choir conducted by Mr. J. C. Finlater, "Brother James' Air" and "Oh, Leave Your Sheep"; school band, march, "Our Director" and "Mello Waltz"; senior girls and boys' choir under Mr. E. A. Caxon. "Shepherds Song" and "Mourn Not For Those."
