High Mortality of Dairy Herds in Kaponga District
"1 understand that one flrm has already handled over 1000 dead cows, and that 80 per cent. could have been saved," said Ihe chairman, Mr. A. V. Tait, at the annual meeting of shareholders of the Kaponga Co-operative Dairy Factory Co. Ltd., on Wednesday night. He suggested shareholders should eonnider joining the veterinary service conductcd by the Federation of Taranaki Dairy Factories. No action was taken. "Kaponga had a golden opportunity to romii into a group veterinary service, but it inissed it, and the loss in this district has been appalling," said Mr. Tait. The mortality this season was considerable, and the trouble had only just begun. Nothing could be done this season, but they could recommend the direclors to enter a group so that shareholders could gain the beueflts from March next. Little interest was displayed in the suggestion, and the dlscussion lapsed.
