Arrangements For Hawera Competitions Festival
The Daisy Reilly memorial 6cholarship valued at £10 would be awarded this year to the most promising competitor in the pianoforte section of the Hawera competitions festival, it was agreed at a meeting of the festival committee on Wednesday. The secretary, Mr. A. E. Morris, reported that there would be about 530 entries, which would provide three full days programme, with extra sessions for dancing on two mornings. The classes had a large proportion of competitors from outside Hawera, including Wanganui, Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Hamilton. The judges would arrive on Saturday evening The official accompanist, Mrs. P. O. Veale, would meet competitors requiring her services tomorrow morning and afternoon.
