DREAMING SAM STRAIN Six selected., well-grown, splendid conditioned yearlings full of quality, backed by strong butter-fat production and showing robust constitution, all carrying the blood of the noted Brampton Dreaming Sam again represent Sproston Stud (Atkinson Bros., Inglewood), whose herd is full of females consistently testing high over a period of years. Three are by Sproston Sam, first and reserve champion at the 1939 and 1940 Inglewood Jersey shows. His sire. Meon Naubolus (Brampton Dreaming Sam (imp.). 23 C.O.R. daughters up to 8881b fat — Meon Eerie, O.H.T. 4071b fat. 3791b fat) combines the Dreaming Sam — Peggy Squire blood so greatly in demand to-day, while his dam. Sproston Comet, V.H.C., first as three-year-old in a big class of 27 at New Plymouth. has a G. O.H.T. of 622.151b. fat in 305 days and G.H.T.'s of 3851b fat at two years, 5331b fat. 5021b fat and 4371b fat (206 days). Her daughters, Sproston Aster, H.C. 5051b fat and Sproston Golden Daisy, V.H.C. 5011b at two years, show how she not only produces but reproduces also. Two of t,he yearlines are by Meon Maunga, a son of Brampton Dreaming Sam out of Snow View Lassie with five records averaging 5721b fat, and dam of Meon Kisrnet. V.H.C. 9541b fat, and Mecn Felicity, O.H.T. 6051b fat at 11 years. Snow View Lassie is regarded by Mr. H. Purdie as one of the best matrons the Dominion has produced. The sixth yearling is by Meon Mercury (fullbrother to Meon Orleander. 6001b fat in 305 days). another son of Brampton Dreaming Sam out of the Viola's Golden Laddie and Pinewoods Golden Stella.
