COMMUNITY SING

An excellent response was received at a "Spitfire" community sing held in the Workers' Social Hall, New Plymouth, by the New Plymouth Hospital ExPatients' Assoclation. Outstanding was the amount given in donations and the numerous telephone calls promising donations. A large number of gifts for auction were also received, many from anonymous donors. The amount handled in the hall was £20. After allowing for small expenses, and if all the promised donations materialise, the association should be able to hand over about £40 to the Spitfire fund. The artists were: Nimmo's Harmonica Band; Miss Holmes, a member of the band, accordeon solo; Mr. W. Taylor, "Mysteries"; Butler's Maori Party. Mr. C. Gilmour was song leader.
