RAIDERS OVER ENGLAND
Rec. 7.30 p.m. Berlin, Sept 28. The High Command states: "We yesterday strongly bombed harbour equipment, docks, factories, power stations and gasworks at London, troop encampments in southern England and docks at Bristoi. We directly hit armament worjts in || the Midlands. Long-range batteries again shelled Dover and damaged three tnerchantmen ,two of which later sank. A,:>| German fighter sank a 5000-ton convoyed merchantman north of Ireland. "A few single enemy planes bombed ,'v north-west Germany but did no damage. The enemy yesterday lost 101 planes. Thirty-eight of ours have not returned." | The British United Press correspondent at Berlin says officials simultane- ■ 3 ously stated that the respective losses ,j| were 90 to 42. ' The German news agency states that ; the Luftwaffe successfully attacked Eng-'^ land again yesterday, causing great fires and explosions at London and sinking '. many ships in docks. Quays and War e-'M houses in the Thames were consiierab'y V| daniaged. Strong formations attacked' tndustrial targets at Derby, Eirmingham, Manchester and Liverpool. Two convoys en route to Liverpool in the Irish Sea!;! were scattered. The Hull and NewcaHlfev-t harbours were heavily hit.
