Mrs. W. Yates. Christchurch, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth. Miss J. McNeill was a visitor to North j Egmont for the week-end. Miss Bobbie Childerstone returned to Waipukurau on Saturday after spending a holiday at Ncw Plymouth with her mother, Mrs. G. W. Childerstone. Miss P. Spooner, of the nursing staff of the New Plymouth hospital, is spendfng a holiday with her mother. Mrs. W. R. O. Spooner, at Manaia. Miss M. Carlaw returned to Auckland yesterday after spending a holiday at New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. C. , J. Hill. Mrs. E. G. Olson will retum to Wellington to-day after visiting her mother, Mrs. Luxford, Omata. Mrs. -Reuben Stccl, Greymouth, is the guest of Mrs. J. H. Ashton. Coming-of-Age Party. A surprise party was recently held at | the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wright, j when about 40 friends gathered to ex- . tend good wishes to Miss Joyce Blackhall on the occasion of her 21st birthday. Mrs. ^ L Elliott presented her with a bouquet ^ gi'ven by Mrs. T. Horton. Mr. F. L. Frost M.P., proposed the toast of the guest of honour, after which Mr. S. Blackhall cave her a golden key that was afterwards autographed by all present. Other speakers were Mr. Blackhall snr., MrF. Bobinson and Mr. A. Wright. Miss Blackhall suitably replied. The evening was spent in games, competitions and items. Miss D. Wright and Mr. F. Robinson supplied the music and were given by Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Grundy, Mr. G. Scott and Mr. Wright.
