Widest Co-operation of Science And Industry. Experts Help Offered

TN the effort to increase supplies of farm produce to Great Britain the services have been enlisted of the Massey and Lfn* coln Agricultural Colleges, the Cawthron Institute at Nelson, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and the Marketing Department. All these are working in co-operation, and the New Zealand Dairy Board is assisting with funds for research work and by specialised work on herd testing, one of the most lmportant features in the structure of the dairy industry. The colleges, Cawthron Institute and the first two departments mentioned by research and experiment are showmg the way to increased production not only by new or extended larm operations, but also by the elimination of waste on the farm an in the factory through better management, and by the control or prevention of disease in animals and plants. The herd-testmg movement controlled by the Dairy Board is showmg the way to the elimination of unprofitable dairy cows and is supplymg much valuable statistical information to other investigators.
