Principal Objectives of Production Plan. Taranaki's Programme
THE first stage in the effort to increase the exports of primary produce was the formation of an organisation that could co-ordinate and direct the movement towards that goal. That stage accomplished, it became essential to show the farming community the objectives being sought and the means whereby they can be attained. In Taranaki the principal aims are to increase the output of cheese, butter, pig-meat and eggs. Increased production of wool, mutton, lamb and beef is also highly essential, but the dairy and allied industries are those that contain the greatest appeal in the province. A fourteen point agricultural plan has been evolved by tha Nationai Council of Primary Production and approved by the Government as an indication of the objectives to which farmers should direct their energies. The plan has been devised not only to increase production as a means of helping to win the war, but to strengthen and stabilise the structure of the primary industries when victory has been won and peace conditions have to be faced once more. •
