Sometimes overheating may occur as a result of a faulty thermostat, and on machines in which one of these ls it should be suspected in case of this trouble. The valve is fltted in the cooling circuit with the object of preventing the water from circulating when the engine is first started, so that one may warm up more quickly. It is intended that on the temperature reaching a predetermined pomt, the thermostat valve should open. If it doe* not, then overheating will take place.
