WINNERS AT PAEROA 1NTERESTING RACING

Paeroa, Last INignt. The Maiden Handicap provided a rhi-illing finish, Lady Pay being just in front of Durvach about 50 yards from the post, with Radiant Vaals at.tempting to go through between them, and Forest Bridge and Miss Eureka also in the picture. Durvach and Lady Pay came out very wide in the straight, and just when Lady Pay looked as if she would win narrowly she lost her rider and Radiant Vaais collided with her, throWing his rider. Forest Bridge. who had secured a good run through. then won by threequarters of a length from Miss Eureka, who beat Durvach hy half a length. Royal Musk was fourth, followed by Royal Pilot and Aberdovey. Forest Bridge paid over three score to win and double figures for a place. Miss Eureka also returned double figures. The well supported Flying Jay and Laughing Fox failed to jump out cleanly and were never dangerous. Favouritc Disqtialified. The win favourite Midland scored very decisively in the Kopuarahi Hurdles, but he was disqualified for weighing in light. Gael attempted to win all the way. • He carried on *the running clear of Cappy, Midland coming into the picture about half a mile from home. Midland drew level with Gael at the last fence, which was almost levclled to the ground whcn Loombination fell in the first round. and he drew away to win by four lengths from Cappy. who outstayed Gael for second. Racewhip, who pulled up tender, was several lengths away fourth, followed by Little Ruse, Etcetera and Aintree. Gael lost some ground when he ran down the third fence otherwise he might have done a little better. Racewhip shaped very creclitably, but Devon and Little Ruse were never prominent. Foxmond JustifieS Choice. On the strength of her good showings at Avondale, where she was unlucky, Foxmond was made an each-way favourite for the Ngatea Handicap, and she duly won after being nicely handled by the apprentice S. Waddell. Foxmond. who drew No. 9 and started from No. 1 after the field had given a good deal of trouble, was smartest to begin, only to give way early to Hunter s Night, Young Paddon and Merry Vaals. Hunter's Night and Brazen Bold led into the straight from Foxmond, Young Paddon and Sunola. Foxmond came away in the straight to win by two and a half lengths from Young Paddon, who defeated Hunter's Night by two and a half lengths. Merry Vaals was fourth, followed by The Dozer, Sunola, Pocket Venus and Brazen Bold. Hunting Bee with Good Run. It was with a fine finishing run from the rear that Hunting Bee won the Pipiroa Hack Cup, for which Valdene and Joan Peel were the favourites. Karatoki and Silver Stick reached the front quickly, and the latter, losing his position after turning along the back, Joan Peel then joined Karatoki in front and they led into the straight from Lord Waitangi, Valdene and Silver Stick, the field being in close order once in line for the post. Lord Waitangi headed the leaders, but Hunting Bee came through and beat him by a lengtjh. Wildore ran on best of the others to be another length away third. and Joan Peel was fourth ahead of Valdene, Karatoki and Silver Stick. Valdene and Joan Peel had every chance but *hey weakened in the straight. Clinch's Good Win. Nicely handled by G. Cameron, the each-way favourite Clinch scored in the Poland Cup from the second fancy. Mintlaw. Clinch and Day Wind were smartest to hegin from the inside, Daywind and Besiege going on in front from Valamito, Clinch and Mintlaw. Passing the stands Besiege ran to the front on the rails, and along the back he was joined by Day Wind and Valamito, with Coronathn making a run on the outside. Nearing the turn BesiCge, Day Wind and Coronation were the leaders from Clinch, Mintlaw and Valamito. Just after reaching the straight Clinch and Mintlaw came through, and at the distance Mintlaw had his head in front. Clinch then asserted himself and beat Mintlaw by a length. Sunny Downs, who was sqtieezed back on the rails at the six-furlong post. finished solidly for third, and Besiege was fourth, followed by Day Wind, Coronation and Cheval de Volee. Clinch and Mintlaw registered solid .performances, but Besiege failed to stay after making the running. Gar Vaals at Double Figures. Ridden by the gentleman rider Mr. L. Keyte, Gar Vaals won at double figures in the Maramarua Steeplechase. Celtic Lad led for a few furlongs and then gave way to Blue Svjeel, who went out to a clear lead from Gar Vaals and Celtic Lad. Blue Steel was still in front at the double the second time but was then pulled up, leaving Gar Vaals and Small Boy in the lead from Celtic Lad and Willen. Gar Vaals led into the straight, and he won by six length^ from Small Boy, who defeated Floodlight by four lengths. Willen, who fell and lost his rider just after passing the post, was fourth. followed by Cockalorum and Rritish Sovereign. Gar Vaals gave a fine display. but Small Boy failed to jump some of the fences well. Te Ronga was beaten a long way from home, but Willen made a good showing and was staying on. Floodlight showed that he was on the improve. Mountain Bruce fell at the first fence. Maxam "Rcpeats Performance. The Flying Handicap was won for the second year in succession by Maxam, who started an each-way favourite. Miss Te Koura. Maxam and Corato were smartest to begin. Miss Te Koura leading into the straight" from Maxam, Corato, Sir Robin, Llangollen and Town Section. Maxam finished strongly and won by a length from Miss Te Koura, who defeated Corato by half a length. Olympus, finishing fast on the outside. was fourth, succeeded by Town Section, Sir Robin, Llangollen and Sure Pay. Proud Fox was slow away. Corato was an outsider and paid double figures for a place. Volifox Surprises. Improved after her recent racing, Volifox brought off a surprise in winning the Kerepeehi Hack Handicap, for wh,ch Verulam was first fancy on the win • machine. Te Haka and Verulam found their feet quickly, Verulam going on in front and leading into the straight from Volifox, Te Haka, Ngawiri, Flying Eagle and Cillas. Below the distance Volifox reached Ihe front and she went nn to win by a head from Cillas. who beat Gold Money Song by another head. Verulam was fourth. followed by Ngawiri. Te Haka. Flying Eagle and Paymaster. Cillas and Gold Money Song both finished well.
