FOXTON CARD

(By "Hurry On.")

CARNAVON GOLD CUP REV1EW OF FIELDS

With good well balanced fields figurmg in all events the Foxton Racing Club s spring meeting to-day promises to produce interesting racing. Taranaki horses figure in many of the events. The totalisator will operate on the win-and-place system. Details of the fields, with reviews, are:—

After her good showing at Awapuni Sanction is likely to command a good following while Vacation did well enough at New Plymouth and Marton to merit consideration. Courting was. a useful two-year-old. Sir Rabbi and Parchment have been galloping well and Sweet Anne has speed. Locrian and Blue Border possess private reputations for speed. The fancies may include Sanction, Courting and Locrian.

The consistent High Peer may carry more support than Dorado and Good Sun but War Lap is more than useful if caught in the right humour. Golden Mernory and Foxiana ran well at Marton while Galteemore may improve on his recent efforts. On his home track Great Fair who was second to Smoke Screen on the first day at Awapuni, may command a big following. Those in demand may include Great Fair, Foxiana and High Peer.

If started in this event Kentucky will have friends. Siglow may need the race but Counter did well enough in the autumn to enter into the calculations. Beau Coureur would only require to act up to' his track work to be prominent. Triple Crown is due to strike form at any time while King's Mark and Silver Sh'ekel have raced well lately. The popular selections may be Kentucky, Beau Coureur, King's Mark.

The good showings of Lady Montana ind Little Robin at Awapuni point to this pair being prominent but Winsome Lu who won on the track in May has worked well at Hawera. Gaelic Song and Noble Fox who filled the first two places at Marton last Saturday have form in their favour while Colonel Bogey has only to act up to his Awapuni form to make a bold showing. Pearl of Asia, Nisht Eruption and Colossal Chief are lightweights with prospects. Master Cyklon might surprise but the favourites may be Gaelic Song, Pearl of Asia and Little Robin. i

Though Serenata will be having her first race for the season she is such a good hack that she must be respected. If started in this race Titter must be respected as she races well at Foxton. Kotua and Last Acre run out a good seven furlongs while City Song is not without prospects. The best supported may be Last Acre, Titter and Serenata.

Of the topweights Taurangi is more forward than Footloose but Mittie her attractive win at Awapuni is the likely favourite. The Buzzer is a possibilitv on Marton form while Night Eruption's fourth at Awapuni suggests a good effort from her. Screen Star who won this race last year has form in his favour. Nigger Boy, White Rajah and Heroic Maid may make things interesting for the topweights. Form points to the prospects of Mittie, Screen Star and Nigger Boy.

If reserved for this event Titter will command a following. Cetewayo will be making his first attempt over a distance of ground and has only to stay on to be handy at the finish. Stella Lux was a winner on the course in May while the good support that came for Sceptre at Marton suggests that she may be prominent. Gay Fox, Red Chief an Gold Gain are not without prospects but the principal fancies may be Stella Lux, Cetewayo and Titter.

The draw for barrier positions is likely i to influence betting in this event but ' Wings of Song, Royal Consort, Kentucky and Whakarara all begin smartly. Zest is likely to be all the better for her Marton outing while Phaleron Song is_ a likely improver. The favourites may include Kentucky, Zest and Whakarara.
