cabin boy disappears

Wellington, Sept. 26. As his ship was leaving harbour last night H. Carr, aged 19, of Cardiff, England, cabin boy, disappeared overboard near Ward Island. A ship's boat was manned to look for I him and the examination vessel, Janie Seddon, at the heads was signalled and left her station to assist. The water was choppy owing to a fresh northerly and despite a two-hour search the lad was not found.
