STRATHMORE NEWS
The Strathmore hall committee held its first annual meeting in the Strathmore hall. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £40. The following members tvere elected for the new committee: Messrs. J. Reith (chairman), H. Mayo (secretary), Frank, J. McCracken, N. Elder, W. McCracken, J. Henderson. C. Coulton, A. Bruce, R. Thomson, E. Reed, I. West and G. Smith. A public meeting was held in the Strathmore hall to form a patriotic committee. The districts represented were Makahu, Te Wera and Strathmore. It was decided to combine the three districts, and the following were elected: Messrs. M. Ford (Makahu, chairman, who will act as secretary until another meeting is called), J. Ford (Makahu). A. Frank, W. McCracken. J. Henderson, H. Mayo, W. Elder, I. McCracken, G. Smith, ' E. Reed, I. West, R. Thomson, C. Coulton. A. Bruce, J. Reith. Mrs. C. J. O'Neill was a recent visitor to New Plymouth. Mrs. J. Ryan is dangerously ill in the Stratford hospital. Mrs. I. Rowe, Auckland, is visiting the district. Mrs. and Mr. J. Garlick have been recent visitors to Pohokura. Mr. E. Brown. Wellington, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. Coulton.
